Digitalisation for COVID Security

14 December 2021

Staff returning to the office, clients coming in for meetings, events are taking place in the building – these are all coming back (slowly) so how do we ensure our offices are covid-secure?

While businesses across the UK herald their return to a more normal pace of office life, the most significant factor in achieving this is developing and proving covid security.

To encourage employees back to the office and make clients feel comfortable on their visits, buildings now need to showcase their covid-security measures. It is much more than two-meter distancing, mask-wearing and signage. Covid security in the workplace is about evidence. Evidence that the internal environment is safe and secure. But how can businesses evidence something they cannot see? The air we breathe is invisible, the pathogens within the air too small for the human eye.

So how can we prove that a building is covid secure?

Digitalisation is the answer.

  1. The ability to monitor the internal environment’s temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide via a range of sensors can help prove a building is covid secure. CODA works via various sensors deployed throughout the building with data being interpreted to advise of the internal environmental conditions. Evidenced through dashboards and apps, building occupiers have peace of mind. Then should levels move outside of desired ranges, CODA will undertake several programmatic activities such as changes to the air conditioning operations or simply raise an alert to an onsite team who can disperse occupiers away from the area of concern to improve the ventilation and reduce the hazardous conditions; helping to provide a covid-secure building.
  2. Cleaning and maintenance routines can also be incorporated into your digital strategy; cleaning activities can be recorded confirming areas within the building have been cleaned according to covid-secure requirements.
  3. Digitalising some manual operations will also reduce the concern around covid as building touchpoints are reduced for the occupiers. Sensors for smart doors, lifts, and escalators mean that the occupiers do not need to press buttons or operate door handles. Smart lighting controls running according to presence detection remove the need to turn on/off lighting throughout the building. Smart taps in canteens and lavatories… the list is endless.

Ultimately digitalisation of systems, processes and operations in your business assists in the drive to covid-security and bringing your colleagues, clients and customers back to the office.
