Earth Day 2023

18 April 2023

Earth Day, the global annual event falls every year on 22 April; this year is the movement’s 53rd anniversary, with people encouraged to do their bit and join the millions worldwide participating.

The theme for 2023 is ‘Invest in our Planet’, described by the president of earthday.org, Kathleen Rogers, as an opportunity to “Invest In Our Planet means taking action and participating in community measures to help solve the issue of mismanaged waste.”

At CODA, Earth Day provides us with a significant opportunity to promote sustainable building practices and raise awareness about the built environment’s role in protecting the environment and creating a more sustainable future.

The built environment sector is vital in responding to the climate emergency. According to the World Green Building Council, “Buildings are currently responsible for 39% of global energy-related carbon emissions: 28% from operational emissions, from the energy needed to heat, cool and power them, and the remaining 11% from materials and construction”.

It is clear that there are significant opportunities to reduce energy waste across the built environment, and the very core of our business at CODA is working to minimise energy waste.

We partner with industrial and commercial companies and the transport sector to reduce the environmental impact of their buildings and assets, business operations and processes through innovative technology.

By taking control of their built environment with building and asset control technology, businesses can make an earth day promise that will make an impact; this is because technology like CODA can:

Facilitate the ability to change processes and operations to reduce carbon emissions and environmental impact; this is the key to lowering 39% of global energy-related carbon emissions.

Identify areas to reduce energy consumption waste within a building, such as poor performance, operation and maintenance of assets such as HVAC and lighting, and heavy energy-intensive equipment such as chillers and compressors.
Provide data that supports a business’ ESG strategy.

CODA can also support businesses in their drive to become more environmentally conscious by providing granular insights into the health of the business’s buildings and the operational efficiency of its assets. This data allows companies to design insight-led strategies that drive out inefficiencies, have a tangible, positive impact on carbon emissions, and advance NetZero commitments.
